GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) and GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) are two separate technologies used in gasoline engines, but they are closely connected. GDI is a fuel injection system in which fuel is injected directly into the engine’s combustion chamber. This helps improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO₂ emissions. However, GDI engines can produce higher levels of particulate matter compared to conventional port fuel injection engines. To reduce these particles, GPF technology is used. GPFs are filters fitted within the exhaust system that capture and remove particulate matter (soot) from the exhaust gases, helping to lower harmful emissions.
